Zenobia Kujichagulia RedBlack Wolf Embry-Nimmer is a
Black Cherokee woman who has worked as an activist addressing
issues related to social and economic justice for the past
32 years is one of the four founders of the Black Native
American Association.
She is very active in both of her community as well
as in the community of the planet Earth. She is a Wolf Clan
person and is diligent in carrying out those responsibilities.
Her great Grandparents walked the Trail of Tears into Arkansas,
then to Oklahoma, with later relatives settling in Kansas.
As a seventh generation person, she understands the
necessity of 'standing and representing' her ancestors and
her communities of today. She is a Southern Traditional
Dancer and is often seen dancing in full regalia at Pow
Wows. She very interested in helping others find their true
cultural paths and believes it is important to follow the
Creator and listen to the ancestors who 'whisper in our
ears'.
Over the years she helped found and worked in a community
based drug program focusing on hard core addiction for seven
years; taught and counseled economically and educationally
disadvantaged youth at Mills College, Upward Bound; worked
in a clinical setting with sexually abused teens and pregnant
and parenting teens; worked as a organizational development
consultant; specialized in training businesses about Equal
Employment & Housing Opportunity/Civil Rights law and principles
provided public education, training, & technical assistance,
to various clients, and organized people interested in promoting
social and economic justice.
Recently she helped developed three new buildings for
low-income people, and managed 16 buildings where the tenants
are low-income elderly and or younger mobility impaired.
