Bonita Roxie Aleja Sizemore is an Ancestral Lineage
Specialist, poet, folklorist, writer, ethnographer, storyteller,
performer, lecturer and workshop leader.
Bonita was honored as The Area Arts Poet, of a large
Midwestern city. Bonita is descended from the Choctaw, Saphoni
and Maharani Band of the Tsalagi, Poarch Creek Band, and
Seminole Nations. Her African Ancestors are from the Nations
of Mali and Sudan. Bonita's family generation records date
from 1605. Bonita carries on the great stories, quick wit
and humor of her Grandmother, Roxie Alexander Sizemore and
Grandfather, Lorenzo Sizemore's peoples'.
She is a poet and storyteller whose work has appeared
in several anthologies including Aboriginal Voices, Chimojako
and The Dark side of Life.
Bonita works throughout the African American, Native
American community, and with Multi Ethnic - Multi Cultural
persons, globally in support of and in coalition with those
who are working toward a spiritual progression of Peace
through Justice.
She also coordinates and participates in various Native
American organizations, including the Berkeley Indigenous
Peoples Day pow wow, The International Indian treaty council,
InterTribal Friendship House, as well as the Gourd Dance
Society and many more.
She is very well known and respected within the African
and Native American Community.
